Hoboken eats well across a few solid traditions. Old-school Italian-American cooking still anchors the city: Fiore's on Adams Street has been making mozzarella from scratch since 1903, and its hot ham-and-mozz sandwich is the town's signature lunch. Carlo's Bake Shop on Washington Street is the same family bakery the Cake Boss TV show made famous — busy with tourists, but the cannoli and lobster tails are still good.
Beyond Italian, the city has strong Latin American — Cucharamama on Garden Street is a serious South American kitchen, founded by Maricel Presilla — and a packed brunch scene around lower Washington. For a quick bite, Hoboken Burrito and the deli counters along Newark Street are reliable. Most restaurants are mid-priced; reservations recommended for dinner on Friday and Saturday.
