The Frog and the Peach on Dennis Street is New Brunswick's long-running upmarket restaurant, open since 1983 and now under chef Bruce Lefebvre. The menu is New American with seasonal local ingredients — Jersey tomatoes in summer, foraged mushrooms in autumn — and a good wine list with strength in Burgundies and a few well-chosen New Jersey wines.
The dining room is industrial-chic — exposed brick, high ceilings — but the cooking is the point. Reserve a few days ahead, especially around Rutgers parents' weekends and graduations.
