Harwood Museum of Art

The Harwood Museum occupies a rambling adobe complex in the heart of Taos and holds the most comprehensive collection of Taos art outside of major national museums. The collection spans the full history of the Taos art colony, from the founding generation of the Taos Society of Artists in the early 1900s through the modernists and contemporary Native American artists working today.

Particular strengths include a large collection of paintings by Mabel Dodge Luhan-era artists, including works by Andrew Dasburg and the abstract paintings of Agnes Martin, who spent the last decades of her life in Taos and donated a significant body of work here. The museum also has a good selection of retablos and bultos — traditional New Mexican religious art — in a separate room.
