Zuni is 35 miles south of Gallup, New Mexico, along Highway 602 — a well-maintained road through high desert. Gallup has the nearest Amtrak station (on the Southwest Chief line between Chicago and Los Angeles) and a small airport with connections to Albuquerque. By car from Albuquerque, Zuni is about three hours via I-40 west to Gallup and then south on 602.
There is no public transport to Zuni. A car is essential. Gallup makes a good base, with accommodation options for most budgets, and is also a good place to explore the surrounding Navajo Nation.
