Eating Out

Lake Placid has a good range of restaurants for a small mountain village. Main Street has a concentration of options from casual to moderately upscale.

Generations on Main Street has been the reliable choice for dinner for many years — a broad menu of American and Italian dishes in a comfortable setting. The Lake Placid Pub and Brewery is the local beer destination, with a good selection of house-made ales and pub food; in winter a pint after skiing is earned. Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa has a formal dining room (Taste) that represents the upmarket option in the village, with good wine and views over the lake.

For casual eating, Simply Gourmet on Main Street does breakfasts and sandwiches. In summer, ice cream from Donnelly's Soft Ice Cream on Saranac Avenue is the standard after-swim treat.
