Waynesville is 28 miles west of Asheville on I-40. The nearest airport is Asheville Regional Airport (AVL), about 40 minutes by car. There is no intercity bus or train service directly to Waynesville — you need a car. From Asheville, US-23/74 is the most direct route; the Blue Ridge Parkway is slower but far more scenic. From Tennessee and the west, I-40 through the Pigeon River Gorge is the main approach.
