Hueston Woods State Park is Oxford's main outdoor escape, spreading around Acton Lake north of town. The park brings together hiking, boating, fishing, golf, and wooded picnic areas, making it a useful change of pace from Miami University's brick-and-quad atmosphere.
For travellers, it works best as a half-day outdoors rather than a quick photo stop. Walk one of the forest trails, look for lake viewpoints, or use it as a low-key base for birding and family-friendly recreation. In autumn the woods are especially good.
