David L. Boren Hiking Trail

A 26-mile loop around Broken Bow Lake that links Beavers Bend and Hochatown State Parks, named for the long-serving Oklahoma senator and University of Oklahoma president. The full loop takes two or three days with overnight camping at primitive sites along the way, but most visitors hike sections.

The trail rolls through dense pine and hardwood with occasional lake views, and crosses several small streams where you can refill water. There is more elevation gain than people expect from Oklahoma — short steep climbs over ridges between coves. Pick up a trail map at the park office.
