Hochatown

Hochatown is the unincorporated strip just north of Broken Bow along Highway 259 that has become the de facto tourist town for the area. It is essentially a row of cabin-rental offices, restaurants, distilleries, and outdoor outfitters serving the steady flow of visitors heading to Beavers Bend.

The pace is leisurely and the architecture is unpretentious — log facades, gravel parking lots, signs hand-painted on weathered wood. Hochatown Distilling Company makes vodka and bourbon on site and offers tastings, and several barbecue joints and pizza places stay busy through the weekend. It is a strange and recent thing: a tourist town that grew out of nothing over the past two decades.
