Little Niagara is a swimming hole on Travertine Creek, just upstream from the Travertine Nature Center. A natural rock ledge stretches across the creek and the water tumbles a few feet over it into a wide, deep pool — the closest thing the park has to a real waterfall. On a hot July weekend it is packed with families, kids jumping in from the ledge and floats drifting through the pool.
The water is cold, clear and spring-fed, and the pool is shaded by oak and elm overhead. There is no entry fee and limited parking in a small lot a short walk from the swimming area. Get there early on weekends or settle for a less crowded spot further downstream where the creek meanders through the picnic grounds.
