The Travertine Information and Nature Center sits at the eastern entrance of the park along Travertine Creek. The building, completed in 1969, straddles a stretch of the creek itself — the water flows beneath the floor and you can hear it rushing through the building. Inside, exhibits cover the local ecology, the spring waters, the Chickasaw Nation and the park's history.
The nature center is the natural starting point for visits. Park rangers run short interpretive programs and the trails out the back lead immediately into the small adjacent environmental study area and on to the springs.
