Eagle Lake Park

Eagle Lake sits in the northern part of Del City and is the city's only significant body of water. It is stocked with bass, catfish, bluegill, carp, trout, and crappie, making it a popular spot with local anglers who know to get there early on weekend mornings.

The park around the lake includes a paved walking trail, a fishing pier, and a covered pavilion that can be reserved for events. It is an unpretentious place — no admission charge, no crowds — and a pleasant enough spot to stretch your legs if you are passing through the southeast side of the Oklahoma City metro. Birders occasionally make the trip specifically for the lake, which attracts a respectable variety of waterfowl and shorebirds given its urban location.

A story
Eagle Lake is the only substantial body of water in Del City, carved out in the early days of the city's development. It has become a reliable birding spot — the Oklahoma City Audubon Society lists it among the area's accessible urban sites, and keen-eyed visitors have logged a surprising number of waterfowl and shorebird species here given how hemmed in by suburb the lake is.
