University of Central Oklahoma

The University of Central Oklahoma is Edmond's main civic anchor. Its campus sits close to downtown, with lawns, performance spaces, and enough student life to make the city feel less like a pure bedroom suburb.

Visitors do not need a formal tour to enjoy it. Walk the central campus, look for public art, and use it as a starting point for downtown Edmond's cafes and shops.

A story
UCO traces its roots to 1890, when the territorial legislature created one of Oklahoma's first public higher-education institutions. The campus still gives Edmond a college-town center that the surrounding suburbs would otherwise lack.
