Lake McMurtry East is one of Stillwater's easiest outdoor escapes, with camping, swimming, boating, kayak rental, disc golf, and multi-use trails around the lake. The trail network is the main draw if you want a half-day away from town.
It is practical rather than spectacular, but useful for families, cyclists, and anyone who wants open water and Oklahoma prairie edges without a long drive.
