Yukon's Best Flour Mill

The "Yukon's Best" grain elevator complex along Route 66 is the most photographed landmark on the Oklahoma stretch of the Mother Road. The large grain storage silos and mill buildings are painted with the Yukon's Best Flour branding in bold block letters — a piece of roadside Americana that has become a favourite photography spot for Route 66 travellers.

The structure is still a working part of the local grain economy, not a museum, but the exterior along Rte 66 is entirely photogenic. The surrounding block includes some of Yukon's older commercial buildings, including the two-storey red-brick Mulvey Mercantile building (1902), which is on the National Register of Historic Places.

A story
The grain elevator's "Yukon's Best" branding dates to the late 1800s, when the Yukon Mill and Grain Company established itself along the Rock Island railroad line. The slogan became locally famous and outlasted dozens of ownership changes — it now adorns a building that draws more tourists than the flour it once produced ever did.
