Florence sits on US Highway 101, the main Oregon coast road, about 290 kilometres south of Portland. The drive from Portland takes roughly three and a half hours via Highway 126 through Eugene — a scenic route that follows the Siuslaw River through the coast range.
By car: Most visitors drive. From Eugene (90 kilometres east), Highway 126 connects directly, taking about 75 minutes. From Portland, the quickest route goes south on I-5 to Eugene, then west on 126.
By bus: Coastal Express buses run along the coast between Coos Bay and Newport, stopping in Florence, with connections to Eugene at several points. It is infrequent — check Oregon Department of Transportation schedules before relying on it.
Florence Municipal Airport (FMU) handles small private and charter aircraft but has no scheduled commercial service. The nearest commercial airports are Eugene (100 kilometres) and Portland (290 kilometres).
