Getting There

Newport sits at the junction of US-101 (the coast highway) and US-20, which crosses the Coast Range from the Willamette Valley. From Portland, the most direct route is via Salem and Corvallis on US-20, about 3 hours by car. From Eugene, follow OR-126 and US-20 west, about 2 hours.

There is no passenger rail or scheduled commercial flight service to Newport itself. Greyhound and a few smaller carriers run buses along the coast. Portland International Airport (PDX) is the nearest major hub, around 3.5 hours away by car. A rental car is by far the easiest way to explore the coast in either direction once you arrive.
