Yaquina Bay Bridge

The Yaquina Bay Bridge is the most photographed structure in Newport, a 1936 arch-and-truss span by Oregon's master bridge engineer Conde McCullough. It carries US-101 across the bay's mouth in a single dramatic 600-foot main arch flanked by smaller arches stepping down to either bank.

The bridge is best seen from a distance: drive across, then double back to the viewpoints at Yaquina Bay State Recreation Site or the parking lot just south of the bridge. At night it is lit from below. Pedestrian sidewalks run on both sides for those willing to brave the wind.
