Sunset Beach State Recreation Site

A quieter stretch of beach to the north, less developed than central Seaside, good for kite flying and beachcombing

A few miles north of central Seaside, Sunset Beach is a state recreation site with beach access but none of the commercial infrastructure of the main town. The sand here is the same wide flat beach that defines this part of the Oregon coast, but without the Prom, the arcades, or the crowd. The access road runs through the Del Rey Beach area, and there is a small parking area and a path through the dunes to the water.

This is the beach for kite flying, long walks, and beachcombing after storms. The wind is usually stronger here than in the sheltered central beach. In spring and fall you may have the whole stretch to yourself. Razor clamming is also possible here in season — the same conditions as the main Seaside beach with fewer people competing for the same holes.
