Within Sunriver, the bike path network is the best way to travel. The 55-kilometre system reaches essentially every part of the community and is almost entirely car-free. Bikes are available for rent from the marina and several shops in the village. If your rental house doesn't come with bikes, count on renting them.
A car remains useful for reaching Bend (15 miles north) for restaurants and groceries, and for skiing at Mount Bachelor (about 20 miles northwest). There is no internal bus service within the resort. Golf carts are common for getting between houses and the village centre, and many rental properties include one.
For the surrounding area, Highway 97 is the main north-south artery. The Deschutes National Forest and the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway are accessible by car from the resort's western entrances.
