The closest commercial airport is Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM), roughly 35 miles north, which has direct flights from Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and a handful of other West Coast cities. Car rental is available at Redmond; the drive to Sunriver takes about 35–40 minutes on Highway 97 south through Bend.
Bend itself is 15 miles north of Sunriver and is the main service hub. Most visitors driving from the Willamette Valley come via Highway 20 from Salem or via Highway 97 from Klamath Falls to the south. The drive from Portland takes about three hours. There is no regular bus or train service to Sunriver; a car is essentially required.
Sunriver Airport (S21) handles general aviation and charter aircraft only — it has no commercial service but is convenient if you are flying a private or rented plane into the area.
