Eating Out

Carlisle's dining scene is modest but reliable, with a mix of long-standing local favourites and newer spots catering to the college crowd and military families. The stretch along High Street and Hanover Street in the historic district holds most of the independent restaurants. Expect solid American and Italian fare, a few good pizza spots, and a handful of places with more ambition. Chain restaurants cluster along the I-81 corridor on the edge of town.

The Saturday farmers' market in the central square is worth a stop for fresh produce, baked goods, and regional specialities from the Cumberland Valley.
