Gettysburg's restaurants are heavily tilted toward themed Civil War tourism — taverns in old houses, period-themed menus, costumed servers. The good places among them serve the kind of solid American food that suits a long day of walking battlefields: roast meats, root vegetables, hearty soups, apple pie. The town also has a couple of newer, less themed places that draw locals from the college and the wider Adams County.
