Whitaker Center is Harrisburg's central indoor culture stop: part science center, part performance venue, part large-format cinema. It is not the reason to cross Pennsylvania, but it gives the state capital a practical, engaging place to spend a few hours beyond the Capitol dome and riverfront.
The science exhibits are strongest for families, while the theatre and film schedule make the building useful for adults too. Its location downtown means it combines easily with the Pennsylvania State Capitol, Strawberry Square, and a walk toward the Susquehanna.
