Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) is served by most major US carriers and has direct international flights to London Heathrow (British Airways) and Frankfurt (Lufthansa), along with seasonal routes. It is one of the most pleasant mid-size airports in the US. A taxi or Uber from the airport to downtown takes about 30 minutes and costs around $40; the 28X bus service is cheaper and runs to the city centre.
By car, Pittsburgh is about 6 hours from New York, 4 hours from Philadelphia, and 2.5 hours from Cleveland. The Pennsylvania Turnpike approaches from the east and south; I-79 from the north. Amtrak's Capitol Limited (New York–Chicago) stops at Pittsburgh's Union Station on Liberty Avenue; the train journey from New York takes about 8 hours.
