Shopping

The Strip District, a half-mile stretch along Penn Avenue northeast of downtown, is Pittsburgh's best shopping experience. On Saturday mornings it comes alive with produce vendors, specialty food shops, and street stalls selling everything from fresh pierogies to imported Italian olive oil. Smallman Street Deli, Penn Mac, and the Pennsylvania Macaroni Company are local institutions.

For conventional shopping, The Mall at Robinson is five minutes from Pittsburgh International Airport and has Macy's, H&M, IKEA, and dozens of other stores. South Side Works on East Carson Street offers a mix of national chains and local boutiques alongside restaurants and a cinema.
