Ocean Drive is Newport’s grand coastal loop, a ten-mile run around the city’s southern edge where rocky shore, old estates, yacht-club lawns, and open Atlantic views replace the denser mansion streets. It is scenic by car, but the best parts are the pauses: Brenton Point, Castle Hill, coves, wind, and the sense that Newport’s wealth always wanted a sea view.
The route is easy to combine with Bellevue Avenue or Fort Adams, though summer traffic can make it slower than the map suggests. If you have limited time in Newport, this is the drive that shows why the city is more than house tours and harbour restaurants.
