Brookgreen Gardens is a large sculpture garden on the grounds of a former plantation south of Myrtle Beach. Its lakes, live oaks, and major collection of American figurative sculpture make it one of the area's strongest cultural stops.
The grounds also include the Lowcountry Zoo, historical exhibits, sculpture pavilions, and seasonal extras such as boat rides or a butterfly house. Give it enough time; this is more than a quick roadside garden.
