Warbird Park, near the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, displays a collection of vintage military aircraft in an open-air setting just north of the Myrtle Beach airport. The base closed in 1993 and much of the land has been redeveloped, but the park preserves several aircraft including an A-10 Thunderbolt, an F-4 Phantom, and other Cold War-era planes on outdoor pedestals.
The park is free to enter and the aircraft are accessible for close inspection. It is unguarded and informal — you simply walk up to the planes and look. For military history enthusiasts or anyone with children interested in aircraft, it is a worthwhile and uncrowded stop, particularly given that admission costs nothing.
