The Brothel Deadwood interprets a part of town history that old mining destinations often mention with a wink and then avoid explaining. Set in a former brothel, the museum uses guided visits to talk about sex work in Deadwood from the gold-rush era into the late 20th century.
It is adult in subject rather than lurid, and that distinction matters. The best reason to go is context: Deadwood sells its Wild West past hard, and this museum adds a human, uncomfortable, and very real layer to the saloons-and-gunfighters version.
