Getting There

Rapid City Regional Airport is the main air gateway for the Black Hills and western South Dakota. Most visitors rent a car, which is the right choice unless you plan to stay entirely downtown.

I-90 passes just north of the city, linking Rapid City with Sturgis, Deadwood, the Badlands, and the long drive east across the plains. U.S. 16 is the classic route south toward Reptile Gardens, Keystone, Mount Rushmore, and Custer State Park.
