The Pennybacker Bridge (locally known as the "360 Bridge") carries Loop 360 over Lake Austin on a single graceful arch of pink granite, 190 feet above the water. The bridge is one of Austin's most photographed landmarks, and it is particularly striking from the water below or from the hiking trail on the north bank of the lake.
The overlook at the top of the bluff on the north side of the bridge — accessible via a short but steep trail — gives what many consider the best view in Austin: the bridge in the foreground, Lake Austin winding through the Hill Country behind, and the city skyline just visible to the east. Sunset here is reliably beautiful and reliably crowded. Parking is at the small lot off Loop 360 on the north side of the bridge; arrive early on weekends.
