Killeen is a working military town rather than a tourist destination, but it has a few genuine draws. Fort Cavazos — the largest US Army installation in the country — anchors the area and its museums offer a serious look at armored warfare and military history. Beyond the base, two large reservoirs, Belton Lake and Stillhouse Hollow Lake, provide the best reason to linger: swimming, boating, fishing, and hiking within easy reach of town.
