Oak Point Park is Plano's largest green space — over 800 acres of tallgrass prairie, creek bottom, and woodland preserved in the middle of suburban North Texas. The park has extensive trail networks for hiking, running, and mountain biking, and the creek corridors provide habitat that attracts a surprising variety of birds for this part of Texas. The prairie sections bloom in spring and early autumn.
The park also hosts the Plano Balloon Festival each September, one of the larger hot-air balloon events in Texas. In non-festival season it is a genuinely quiet place to walk, which is harder to find in this part of the metroplex than you might expect.
