Webb Gallery

Webb Gallery, on the main square a block from the courthouse, has been the most interesting thing happening in Waxahachie since Bruce and Julie Webb opened it in 1987. They deal in self-taught and outsider art, vintage circus and carnival objects, hand-painted signs, and the regalia and artefacts of Texas fraternal lodges — particularly the Odd Fellows. The collection ranges from museum-quality folk paintings to objects you cannot quite identify, and rotates often enough to reward repeat visits.

Opening hours are intentionally limited (typically weekend afternoons) and worth checking before you make the trip. Most of what is on the walls is for sale; even if you are not buying, the Webbs are knowledgeable hosts and the gallery is one of the best places in north Texas to see this kind of work outside a major museum.
