Things to Do

Waxahachie's main draw is its downtown architecture, with the Ellis County Courthouse at the centre and several blocks of restored Victorian and Edwardian buildings around it. The compact historic core can be walked in an afternoon, taking in the courthouse, a couple of churches, and the West End residential district. Beyond the square, the unlikely Munster Mansion replica and the Webb Gallery's outsider-art collection are worth seeking out for travellers with time to spare. In April and May the Scarborough Renaissance Festival, a few miles south of town, draws crowds from across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
