Ray's Tavern

A wood-panelled roadhouse on Broadway that has been feeding river runners and truck drivers since 1943. The walls are covered with photos and rafting memorabilia; the burgers are large and the beer is cold. It is the social heart of Green River in the way a small-town tavern still can be.

Order the cheeseburger and a basket of fries. There is a pool table, a long bar, and an outside patio that fills up on summer evenings. If you have just come off Labyrinth Canyon, the contrast between five days of silence and Ray's on a Saturday night is the whole point.
