Ancestral Puebloan pueblo ruins and outstanding pottery collection in Blanding

About 20 miles south of Monticello in Blanding, Edge of the Cedars State Park preserves a partially excavated Ancestral Puebloan (Anasazi) pueblo from around 825–1220 AD. The site has a kiva you can climb down into, rooms you can peer through, and a small but outstanding museum housing one of the finest collections of Ancestral Puebloan pottery in the Southwest.

The museum is particularly strong on pottery, with whole vessels and decorated pieces from across the Four Corners region. It is one of the best small archaeological museums in Utah and well worth the short detour from Monticello.
