Vermont is a craft beer state, and Burlington is where the brewing tradition is most concentrated. The Vermont Pub and Brewery, opened in 1988, was the state's first brewpub and helped establish the culture that produced Magic Hat, Switchback, and dozens of smaller operations. The South End Arts District, along Pine Street and Flynn Avenue, has the densest concentration of breweries and bars.
