Getting There

Burlington International Airport (BTV) is a small regional airport with direct flights to major hubs including New York (JFK, LGA, EWR), Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, and Chicago, plus some seasonal routes. It is about three miles east of downtown, easily reached by taxi or ride-share.

By car, Burlington is about three hours from Boston, four hours from New York, and 90 minutes from Montreal (Canada). Interstate 89 connects the city to the rest of Vermont and to New Hampshire. There is no Amtrak service to Burlington — the nearest Amtrak station is Essex Junction, four miles east, which is served by the Vermonter line from New York and Washington with a connection via Springfield.

Greyhound and other bus services connect Burlington to Boston and Montreal. Downtown Burlington is compact and walkable; a car is useful for day trips but not necessary within the city.
