Woodstock Village Green

The handsome central green around which Woodstock shows its postcard face

Woodstock Village Green is the town's front room: lawns, old houses, the courthouse, inns, shops, and enough carefully maintained New England scenery to make cameras come out almost automatically. It is small, but it sets the tone for the whole visit.

The green is best early in the morning, before traffic on Route 4 and day-trippers thicken the centre. From here you can walk to the covered bridge, browse the main shops, or continue toward Billings Farm and the national historical park.
