Virginia Quilt Museum

The Virginia Quilt Museum occupies a handsome 19th-century house in Harrisonburg's downtown and holds a rotating exhibition of quilts from its permanent collection alongside temporary shows. The collection spans traditional Appalachian and Mennonite quilting through contemporary quilt art.

The museum is small and focused, and the quality of the textile work on display is consistently high. It is one of the few institutions in the country dedicated specifically to quilts as an art form. Even visitors without a particular interest in textiles tend to be surprised by the level of craftsmanship in the best pieces. Admission is inexpensive.
