False Cape State Park is Virginia Beach stripped back to sand, marsh, wind, and sky. The park sits on the narrow barrier between Back Bay and the Atlantic, south of the developed resort strip and north of the North Carolina line. There are no normal car-access beaches here, which is exactly why it matters.
Reaching the park takes planning: you walk, bike, paddle, or use seasonal park transport through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The reward is one of the wildest coastal landscapes in Virginia, with long empty beach, maritime forest, dunes, and excellent birding. Go prepared with water and sun protection; once you are in, services are minimal.
