Getting Around

The East Link light rail runs through central Bellevue with stops at East Main, Bellevue Downtown, and Wilburton stations, connecting to Seattle in under 20 minutes. For the first time, Bellevue is genuinely navigable without a car from the Seattle side, and the line has spurred considerable development around the stations.

Within Bellevue itself, King County Metro buses cover most of the city, though the network is designed around commute patterns and less useful for cross-city travel at weekends. Downtown Bellevue is walkable between the transit centre, the mall, the arts museum, and Downtown Park. Elsewhere, and especially for the Botanical Garden or Mercer Slough, a car or rideshare is the practical option. The SR 520 bridge trail allows cyclists to cross Lake Washington between Bellevue and Montlake in Seattle.
