Main Street in Old Bellevue is the most walkable and characterful strip in the city — a few blocks of independent restaurants, boutiques, and cafés that have managed to hold their own alongside the corporate development elsewhere downtown. The streetscape is low-rise and pedestrian-scaled, which makes it feel like a different city from the glass towers a few blocks north.
The neighbourhood sits between downtown Bellevue and the lake, and on summer evenings the outdoor tables fill quickly. Newcastle Beach Park and the lake shore are a short walk down the hill. Old Bellevue is the neighbourhood that most convincingly answers the question of whether Bellevue has a heart — it does, here.
