Dick and Jane's Spot

Dick and Jane's Spot is the kind of place that justifies a detour off I-90 by itself — an outsider-art property in a residential block a few minutes' walk from downtown Ellensburg, with every fence, post, tree, and inch of yard covered in mosaics, painted faces, kinetic sculptures, and reflector-disk pieces.

The work is visible 24 hours a day from the public sidewalk; the artists never opened the interior of the property to visitors. The address is 101 N Pearl Street. Be respectful — this is still a private home.

A story
Jane Orleman and Dick Elliott began covering their house in salvaged toys, mirrors, bottle caps, and reflectors in 1979 and never stopped. By the time Dick died in 2008 the property held more than 10,000 individual artworks visible from the street.
