Yellow Church Cafe

The Yellow Church Cafe occupies a converted 1923 German Lutheran church on N Pearl Street, just south of downtown. The interior keeps the original stained glass and the high vaulted ceiling and adds white tablecloths and an open kitchen. The food is the best in town: Northwest-leaning, careful, and not too precious.

Brunch is the headline meal, with the lemon-curry-tinged eggs Benedict that locals send their out-of-town visitors for. Dinner runs to seasonal plates — Columbia River salmon, rack of lamb, fresh pasta. Reservations advised, especially Sunday morning.
