The Kittitas County Historical Museum occupies the 1889 Cadwell Building on N Pearl Street and is one of the better small-county museums in the state. The standout collection is the Carey Mineral Collection, an extensive holding of gems and stones, but there are also strong exhibits on Kittitas County agriculture, mining, the Northern Pacific railroad, and the area's Native heritage.
It is a free, friendly place to spend an hour. The volunteer staff often have personal connections to the people and places in the displays. Open Tuesday through Saturday.
