North Jetty

The North Jetty extends out from the southern end of the Ocean Shores peninsula into the entrance of Grays Harbor, forming one half of the channel markers that guide ships into the harbor. It is a favourite spot for surf fishing and for watching the dramatic wave action where the river current meets Pacific swells. On stormy days the spray can reach spectacular heights.

Walking out on the jetty gives you a good look at the harbor shipping traffic — container ships, crab boats, and the occasional cruise vessel. Harbor seals are common in the water below the jetty wall, and California sea lions sometimes haul out on the rocks at the tip. From here, looking south, you can see the twin towers of the Westport lighthouse directly across the channel.
