Weatherwax Trail

A short forest-and-wetland trail through one of Ocean Shores' quieter protected natural areas.

Weatherwax Trail gives Ocean Shores a change of texture from beach, dune, and canal. The path runs through a protected patch of coastal forest and wetland, with salal, shore pine, mossy ground, and bird noise replacing the wind-open Pacific edge for a little while.

It is a low-key walk, not a wilderness expedition, but that is exactly the appeal. Go after a spell of dry weather if you want the easiest footing, and bring binoculars if you are already watching birds elsewhere on the peninsula.
